Gameweek Two saw MLS Cup holders LA Galaxy snatch a point
from the jaws of defeat, Seattle’s deadly duo of Clint Dempsey and Obafemi
Martins strike again and Tyler Deric go from hero to zero for Houston Dynamo.
Here are the five biggest lessons we have taken from this week...
1) Cristiano Ronaldo could be coming to the MLS.

Ronaldo has scored 293 times in 285 games for Real Madrid
since signing from Manchester United in 2009 for a then world record £80million
fee.
His agent, Jorge Mendes, sent US fans into meltdown by suggesting
that Ronaldo is particularly interested in joining franchises in New York,
Orlando and Miami.
The forward would be 33 by 2018 but then again he is
Cristiano Ronaldo- who wouldn’t want him?!
2) The Earthquakes should play Seattle every week.
San Jose ended their 16-game winless streak against Sheffield
Shield holders Seattle Sounders- captain Chris Wondolowski’s brace handed them
a 3-2 away victory.
The Earthquakes last MLS win, a 1-0 triumph on August 3,
also came against the Sounders, and they have lost just one of their last six
against Dempsey, Martins and co.
Wondolowski’s side will hope they don’t have to wait 14
games, until the sides’ next meeting on June 20, for their next victory.

3) Blas Perez and FC Dallas are seriously good.
Perez might be the best thing to come out of Panama- FC
Dallas fans will certainly think so.
The 34-year-old striker has been on fire in the first two
weeks of the MLS season, grabbing three goals to leave Dallas top of the
Western Conference.
Dallas’ number seven has 34 goals in 76 MLS matches and will
be key if Oscar Pareja’s team are to maintain their early season flourish.
4) Brad Evans probably shouldn’t play at centre-back after
all.
Sounders captain Evans received praise for his performance
in central defence in their season opening 3-0 win over New England Revolution.
However, the US international had a disaster against San
Jose; a terrible back-pass set up Wondolowski’s first and Innocent Emeghara left
him for dead to score the Earthquakes’ winner.
Evans, who usually plays in midfield, has played at
right-back for the US national team, but based on Sunday’s performance
centre-back might be a step too far.
5) New York has fallen in love with David Villa.
Okay we admit it, when an expansion franchise signs a World
Cup- winning, former Barcelona striker it is unlikely that the fans won’t take
him to heart.
But, Villa and New York seem to be a match made in heaven
just two weeks into the Spaniards first MLS campaign.
Some questioned the wisdom of adding a second
New York-based franchise but based on this tweet from Villa things have started
swimmingly in the Big Apple.
