New York City ended their 11-match winless run with a 2-1
victory over Philadelphia Union, thanks to second-half substitute Patrick
Mullins’ 87th minute goal.
Union took the lead through C.J. Sapong’s fourth of the
season after the interval but Thomas McNamara’s long-range strike levelled the
match.

It was a different story for rivals New York Red Bulls as
they suffered a 4-2 defeat against Houston Dynamo, despite Mike Grella and Anatole
Bertrand Abang scoring.
Oscar Garcia scored Houston’s opener before turning provider
for Ricardo Clark and then for Will Bruin’s first, Bruin adding another in
stoppage time.
Orlando City also caused late drama as first Cyle Larin and
then a second Adailton own-goal gave them a 3-2 win against Chicago Fire.
Kennedy Igboananike fired the hosts ahead before Adailton
put past his own keeper, David Accam restored the lead but Fire could not hold
out.
Montreal Impact registered their first away win in 25 games with
goals from Maxim Tissot and Andres Romero earning a 2-1 win despite Federico
Higuain scoring for Columbus Crew.
Sebastian Giovinco’s brace earned Toronto a 2-1 win against
D.C. United to end their 16-match unbeaten home MLS run and cancel out Steve
Birnbaum’s effort.
Vancouver Whitecaps made it a clean sweep for Canadian sides
by ending LA Galaxy’s 23-match unbeaten home run with a 1-0 win thanks to
Kekuta Manneh.

Portland Timbers earned their first three-game winning
streak in MLS history with two late goals from Fanendo Adi downing New England
Revolution.
San Jose Earthquakes and FC Dallas played out a 0-0 draw but
there were plenty of talking points as Quakes’ Mark Sherrod made contact with
goalkeeper Dan Kennedy to see red.
Dallas’ Je-Vaughn Watson was then dismissed for a challenge
on Cordell Cato before JJ Koval was sent off late on for the hosts as the match
ended with 19 players.
Dillon Powers missed a late penalty as Colorado Rapids
played out a 0-0 draw with Real Salt Lake in the Rocky Mountain Cup fixture.
