Sanna Nyassi scored the only goal as San Jose Earthquakes beat Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 in a game which saw Pedro Morales and Adam Jahn sent off for kicking eachother.

The Eastern Conference leaders also drew 2-2 with Columbus Crew in midweek – Kei Kamara twice put Crew ahead but Octavio Rivero’s fifth of the season and Darren Mattocks first earned a point.

Columbus drew 0-0 at New England Revolution in Jermaine Jones comeback game and Real Salt Lake are still unbeaten following a 0-0 draw with Sporting Kansas City.
